Moscow Ensemble of Contemporary Music | МEСМ

Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (MCME) is an independent professional collective that brings together Russian musicians – experts in contemporary performing arts. Founded in 1990 by Yuri Kasparov together with Edison Denisov, one of leading figures in Russian avant-garde, MCME is the first Russian ensemble that aims to raise awareness of 20-21st century music and supports contemporary composers. The ensemble’s repertoire includes premieres of over 1000 Russian and international works, projects in 85 Russian cities and 30 countries. MCME delivers a strong educational programme in Russian regions and initiated the International Young Composers Academy in Tchaikovsky City, Ural. MCME regularly performs at major Russian and international festivals including “DiaghilevFest” (Russia, Perm), “Maerzmusik-Berlinerfesrspiele” (Germany), “Gaudeamus Music Week” (the Netherlands), “Warsaw Autumn” (Poland), “Klangspuren” (Austria), “Radio-France Presences” (France), and others. MCME has collaborated with the leading conductors such as Beat Furrer, Yurien Hempel, Theodor Currentzis, Enno Poppe, Fyodor Lednev and others. In 2009 MCME received the Action award in support of theatrical initiatives, and in 2013 — the Golden Mask award.
