2022 WINNERS

VALERY VORONOV (*1970)
Valery graduated from the Belarusian State Conservatory and the Higher School of Music in Cologne. He is a prize-winner of numerous international composition competitions (Witold Lutosławski International Cello Competition in Warsaw, New Music Days in Vienna, Schiedmeyer Celesta Prize, DacapoPrize, Pythian Games). He is a regular participant of the Paris Autumn Festival, the MaerzMusik festival (Berlin), and other prestigious European music forums.

ARMAN GUSHCHYAN (*1981)
Arman studied composition in Roman Ledenyov’s class at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (2000-2005, post-graduate course 2005-2008). He took courses at the Basel Music Academy (2006-2008) and the College of Music Dresden (2010-2012). He has taught at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (2008-2013) and College of Music Dresden. Currently, he is teaching his own course titled Music and Sound Design in Theatre at the HSE Art and Design School. He is a recipient of the ESKAS Scholarship of the Swiss Confederation (2006) and of DAAD Scholarship (2010). He is a winner of the Shostakovich Competition in Moscow (2006), international Pre-Art Competition in Zurich (2007), and the Pythian Games in Saint Petersburg (2014). In 2011-2012, he had an artistic residency at Richard-Wagner-Stätten near Dresden.

ROMAN ZHAUROV (*1996)
Roman graduated from the music theory department of the Kamchatka College of Art in 2018 and is currently a student at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (Leonid Bobylev’s composition class). He is a winner of international competitions (2018, 2020), participant in the 8th Winter International Arts Festival (Sochi, 2020), the 7th All-Russian Summer School for Composers “Choral Laboratory. 21st Century,” the 10th International Academy for Young Composers in Chaykovsky (2020), Opera Laboratory of the Theatre of Nations within the framework of Dostoevsky-200 project (2021). He has taken part in master-classes by Dmitry Kurlyandsky, Oscar Bianchi, Valery Voronov, Alexander Khubeyev, Sergey Nevsky, Mehdi Hosseini, Vladimir Rannev, and others.

ALEXEY NADZHAROV (*1983)
Alexey graduated from the composition department (2006) and completed post-graduate studies at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (Yuri Vorontsov’s composition class, 2009). From 2009 to 2016 he was a researcher at the Moscow Conservatory Centre for Electroacoustic Music. He has taken part in master-classes by Tristan Murail, Guy Reibel, Jan Ghislaine, Philippe Hurel, Martijn Padding, and a composition master-class in Apeldoorn (Netherlands). His music is performed by the Studio for New Music, MCME, eNsemble, Ereprijs (Netherlands), Ensemble Multilatérale (France), Alter Ego (Italy), and Ensemble Modern (Germany).

EGOR SAVELYANOV (*1999)
Egor is a student at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (Yuri Kasparov’s composition class). He participated in the reMusic.org festival (2020), Composer’s Readings project (Moscow, 2020), Opera Laboratory of the Theatre of Nations within the framework of Dostoevsky-200 project (2021). He was a trainee of the 10th International Academy for Young Composers in Chaykovsky (2020). He is a recipient of a personal scholarship from the Union of Composers of Russia (2020). He has taken part in master-classes by Dmitry Kurlyandsky, Raphaël Cendo, Oscar Bianchi, Vladimir Rannev, Alexander Khubeyev, Sergey Nevsky, and Andrew Toovey. He has taken part in various composition competitions since 2012 and has won prizes at international and all-Russian competitions, including the New Music Generation (1st prize), the SAMAL contest (1st prize), and others.

ANTON SVETLICHNY (*1982)
Anton graduated from the Rostov State Conservatory (Vitaly Khodosh’s composition class, 2004). Member of the composers’ group Soprotivlenie Materiala (Resistance of Material). He is a winner of the composers' competition of the Pythian Games; participant of ISCM World Music Days (2007), Summer Courses of Contemporary Music in Darmstadt (2010, 2016), Festival d'Avignon (2012), Gaudeamus Muziekweek (2013), Forum Wallis (2014), SIRGA Festival, Projecte Rafel Festival (2014), Festival de Nueva Opera de Buenos Aires (2016), 26th International Review of Composers (2017), Five Evenings (2020). He has written music for theatre productions, including Hamletmachine (Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre, 2009, directed by Kirill Serebrennikov), Netochka and Christmas (Moscow, ZIL Cultural Center, 2014), Two Queens (musical, Irkutsk Musical Theatre, 2017).
