А HOVERING HEART STRETCHES THE PAGE UNTIL IT FLOATS

for five

“А hovering heart stretches the page until it floats” is a piece of music investigating the principles of communications and the process of making music together. In this context, the rehearsal process is very important for me — each meeting with the ensemble should be a creative gathering, opening up new opportunities to interact with each other and with the music. The actual piece is very personal — there is sheet music for the work, but it cannot transmit everything that I have in mind. The actual material is extremely fragile: shying away from specifics, it was born on the cusp of sound, silence and motion. To all intents and purposes, not only do objects play the role of instruments here: so do the situations that we study during rehearsals. In addition, the improvisation I insert in the new work originates from personal experience. I am entering a fascinating new stage in life where things that appear at first glance totally separate from music start to acquire a musical logic. Light and video assume the same role in my pieces — they are not superimposed from the outside, but are instead implemented as musical material.
